Birthing Humanity

Birthing Humanity will be a documentary that carries the vision to be part of the paradigm changes around how we are bringing babies into this world and the impact this has, not only on the health of mothers, babies, and our communities, but also, on our whole civilization, future generations and most significantly, our earth. Through modern storytelling we aspire to create a movement around gentle childbirth and motherhood that inspires women to believe in their inherent power.

The film will create a movement around gentle childbirth and motherhood to inspire women to believe in their inherent power, to reclaim their autonomy to birth a child and better understand their responsibility in the cycle of life.

A story about you

Our documentary functions as a stage for depicting the universal nature of birth and how much we all carry this imprint from the way in which we enter this world. In the end we are all the same, we all have been born. We have all been carried in the womb of a woman and her birth and her health had an impact on all of our lives.

Birthing Humanity brings peace by triggering resonance in us all that how we are born matters.

And a story about...

Our film illuminates the path of trust, connecting scientific knowledge and indigenous wisdom. Our characters share their own personal journeys towards reclaiming their autonomy to choose how they birth and which system is needed to support women in doing so.

Empowering Women

We spotlight motherhood and the precious first months after a baby is born. We look at the impact of our mothers not being respected and valued in our society, rather left isolated, depleted and in many cases depressed. How can we bring our mothers back into the center of our society and support them?

Shared Responsibility

We look closely at our language and art of storytelling through which we will confront the themes of pain and fear. Aren’t we already advanced enough with our knowledge around the power of the mind and the quintessential nature of the blueprint of oxytocin in birth to change the old narrative around birth?

Healing in Community

Birthing Humanity sheds light on the term gentle birth. What are the optimal circumstances and space that needs to be created for birth to happen as gently as possible? What does it mean for a woman and what does it mean for our society to experience this approach to birth?

Wild Women

If we want to break the taboo around woman’s body and her birthing, we can only do it slowly, gently and valuing her boundaries. While we show brave women in their most intimate moments giving birth to their newborns, we work with them hand in hand, so the sacred space of birth they dipped in stays sacred.
